Recent Studies Show a Promising Future
According to the Outdoor Industry Association (OIA):
The OIA's 2009 Outdoor Recreation Participation Report states that:
"In 2008 participation in many core nature-based outdoor activities increased. Activities like backpacking, mountain biking and trail running showed double-digit increases in participation in 2008, and hiking and camping grew by 9 percent and 7 percent respectively."
"The 'gateway' activities . . . fishing, bicycling, running/jogging/trail running, camping and hiking . . . are popular, accessible and often lead to participation in other outdoor activities."
In other recent studies from OIA, the 2009 end-year edition of their Outdoor Topline Report produced by Leisure Trends Group states that:
"Retail sales for all core outdoor stores combined (chain, internet, specialty) totaled a whopping $5,075,143,991."
"Sales totals were up 2 percent from those in 2007."

Morgantown Area Grand Prix (MAGP)
Presented by the Morgantown Roadrunners/WV Track Club and sponsored by iPlayOutside, this series helps local, charitable community service organizations and causes. We host their series web site, advertise, and assist with promoting their Point Series.
Presented by Charleston Parks & Recreation, The City of Charleston West Virginia, and the Tallman Track Club these series (two of them) encourages wellness in the city and it's surrounding areas. We help them advertise, and more.
This campland in beautiful Bruceton Mills, WV has annual outdoor sporting events. We host their events web page and also advertise for them.
West Virginia Mountain Bike Association (WVMBA)
This long standing organization supports the efforts of The International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) and encourages all riders to adhere to the rules of the trail. We host their web site and also advertise their Mountain Bike Point Series and Rides.
Morgantown Adventure Sports Series (MASS)
MASS is a brand new collection of outdoor adventure competitions hosted by the West Virginia University College of Physical Activity & Sports Science that tests the physical abilities and mental toughness of it's participants. We help them advertise their series.
Appalachian Bicycle Racing Association (ABRA)
The ABRA hosts the Appalachian Road Race Series and the Appalachian Cyclocross Series. We help them advertise their series, plus the Director of the Assoc. claims to be one of our biggest fans! He's an amazing photographer too.
West Virginia Mountain Trail Runners (WVMTR)
Grassroots at it's very best, WVMTR is made up of passionate runners of all interests. They have members across West Virginia and it's surrounding states. We help advertise many of their events.
Located in the New River Gorge National River WV, their 1,500-acre adventure headquarters, down-home hospitality, and unique approach to outdoor fun has earned them a spotlight on The Travel Channel. ACE hosts the Xterra Big Canyon Triathalon, the New River Bike Fest, and the New River Gorge-ous Trail Run and Walk among many other events. iPlayOutside features/advertises all of these races.
