Gauley Fest
September 17-19Summersville, WV A fundraiser for American Whitewater, Gauley Fest began in 1993 to celebrate the derailment of a hydro-electric project that would have changed the course of Gauley Season as we know it. In 2010, it is the largest river festival in the world. Help protect our waterways and come to Gauley Fest. All proceeds go to the AW conservation and access projects. Bridge Day Fayetteville, WV October 16 Join 200,00 of your closest friends on the New River Gorge Bridge for the 31st Annual Bridge Day. This is the biggest party of the year in West Virginia as BASE jumpers fall through the air to touch down on the banks of the New River below. A great day of food and festivities spotlight the historic city of Fayetteville and the New River Gorge Bridge. Fall Music Series Wildwater Base Camp Every Saturday evening throughout Gauley Season The party doesn’t stop once your Gauley trip is over. In fact, it is just beginning. Gauley Season weekends at Wildwater also feature great live entertainment. Johnson's CrossroadSeptember 11, 2010 Johnson’s Crossroad has taken their love of old time mountain music and bluegrass and the Texas singer/songwriters of the 1970’s to create a sound they have coined “bent acoustic country.” The band’s original material is steep in traditional country themes of love lost, lost fortune, lost time and overcoming hardships. Their live performance has a real sense of intimacy between the band and the audience. The Wild RumpusSeptember 18, 2010 Mix the downhome lyrical stylings of Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle, and Guy Clark and spice it up with some Uncle Tupelo and that is Wild Rumpus. Hailing from Fayetteville, WV, the Wild Rumpus forges a sound that has one foot stomping in the past and the other stomping in the present. Their influences range from Leonard Cohen to Jimmy Martin and touch everything in between while managing to hold together a sound that is instantly recognizable and will start your legs to dancing on their own. |
